Cranston police: Shopper instructs child to steal purse from carriage

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Cranston police are investigating after a woman allegedly compelled her child to steal a purse from another shopper’s carriage.

The incident occurred at the Burlington Coat Factory store on Garfield Avenue on February 9 at approximately 8 p.m.

The juvenile took the wallet from the carriage and handed it to the mother, who then looked in the wallet and eventually left the store with it, according to Cranston police.
