Suspects in 2024 stabbing and car strike death to appear in court

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The two suspects in the death of 21-year-old Isaac Vasquez were originally arraigned in July after the incident.

Since then, the case has been moved to superior court.

According to police, officials responded to the a large disturbance at around 1 a.m. at Oak and Trainor Street in Cranston.

Officers found a 15-year-old stabbed in the back on the scene. He was then taken to the hospital.

Officers said that 23-year-old Destiny Torres stabbed the victim, and was seen getting into a grey Honda Accord with 24-year-old Edwin Torres.

Officers said they witnessed Edwin Torres purposely hit 21-year-old Isaac Vasquez with his car.

Vasquez was later pronounced dead.

Destiny Torres is charged with one count of felony assault with a dangerous weapon, a knife.

Edwin Torres is charged with one count of murder in the death of 21-year-old Isaac Vasquez.

The case was moved to superior court in February.

Both Edwin Torres and Destiny Torres are set to appear in court Wednesday morning for their arraignments at 9:30.
