Animal Control rescues ‘severely matted dog’ in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — Cumberland and Lincoln Animal Control rescued a “severely matted dog” that was discovered in Cumberland.

On Feb. 16, the dog was found at the CVS on Broad Street, according to Animal Control.

Since then, the dog was named Spencer and taken to the vet, vaccinated, and shaved.

Animal Control said Spencer “is being well cared for and is improving daily.”

He still needs to be neutered and “needs time to to decompress, as he’s been through a great deal,” according to Animal Control.

Spencer is not ready for adoption, and the shelter will announce when it is time to accept applications.
