Fall River: Investigation continues into weekend fire at closed school building

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The old Frank M. Silvia School building on Hartwell Street caught on fire Saturday.

Fall River firefighters said that it was a third alarm fire.

The heavy fire was so extreme that the flames reached the ceiling of the building.

Ladder trucks and hoses from other city stations could be seen outside the building to control the fire from the exterior.

There has not yet been any information released on any injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
