Magaziner meets with Save the Bay as potential cuts loom
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Congressman Seth Magaziner visited Save the Bay this morning to discuss what’s a stake at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), as they face the possibility of cuts in federal funding.
At Monday morning’s discussion, Congressman Magaziner highlighted that Save the Bay receives two grants from NOAA.
One grant helps improve stream passages for fish, and the other helps elementary school children learn about the bay.
Congressman Magaziner said that modest cuts in funding would be unthinkable for Save the Bay.
RI’s fishermen depend on research and data produced by @NOAA for everything from accurate weather reports to estimates of fishing stocks.
Today, we discussed how disruptive Trump and Musk’s cuts to NOAA could be for Rhode Islanders who make their living on the ocean. pic.twitter.com/jjTSd9QJBp
