Fire in Providence finds electrical issue in home

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Fire Department said that a house fire occurred on Whittier Street Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the home around 2 p.m. to find a fire in the basement.

The fire was quickly extinguished, and there was minimal structural damage.

The department said that an unrelated electrical issue was found, and rendered the home uninhabitable.

Eight residents were displaced due to the issue.
