Windy End To The Week!
It’s been a dreary day across southern New England, no doubt about that. We still have clouds and a few showers around this evening, but temperatures have held fast in the upper 40s and low 50s. That said, we’ll have big changes as we head through our Thursday night and into Friday.
Those changes start with colder air funneling into southern New England as our storm system starts to push on to the east. That will not only result in lower temperatures (waking up to lows in the upper 20s and low 30s on Friday morning), but tremendously gusty winds as well. Because of the wind, we have a Wind Advisory in place from 7 PM Thursday until 7 PM Friday for most of southern New England. Gusts in the areas under the Advisory could reach 50 mph. We also have High Wind Warnings for Worcester County, MA and the Berkshires, as gusts in these areas could reach 60 mph.
Aside from the wind that will continue on Friday, we’ll have more sunshine (although a quick afternoon shower isn’t totally out of the question). High temperatures will only be in the low to mid 40s– pretty average for this time of year, but clearly not as mild as the recent stretch has been.
We keep the sunshine around on Saturday, and while it won’t be quite as windy as Friday, it’ll still be pretty windy with gusts up to about 45 mph. Highs will be in the low 40s.
The wind finally dies down on Sunday. It’ll be a little breezy at times, but nowhere near what we’re anticipating Thursday-Saturday. Highs will remain in the low to mid 40s.
If you’re missing the mild air by that point, don’t worry! We’ll see a warming trend as we start the next workweek, with temperatures climbing back into the upper 40s/low 50s by Monday afternoon. We’re also watching for a quick clipper system (a small, but potentially punchy storm) that may try to squeeze by on Monday. Should it come our way, we can expect a few showers. We’ll keep you posted as we move through the weekend!
