Saturday: RIPTA adjusts bus lines to accommodate Providence Saint Patrick’s Day parade

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — We’re still over a week away from Saint Patrick’s Day, but in the Capitol City, the wait is nearly over.

The Providence Saint Patrick’s Day parade is Saturday, beginning at Smith Street and Hilltop Avenue, and will proceed along Smith Street until it reaches the state house.

The parade kicks off at noon, and to account for the road closures for the parade, the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority has announced a series of detours on three bus lines.

RIPTA will detour routes 50, 56 and 57 from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.

From 3 – 6 p.m., RIPTA will still have Smith Street partially closed, with detours still on the 56 and 57 lines.
