Police: Juvenile charged with DUI after striking Rhode Island State Police cruiser

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Rhode Island State Police cruiser was struck by a vehicle driven by a juvenile under the influence of alcohol Monday night on Route 10 in Providence, according to the Rhode Island State Police.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Route 10 South at Union Avenue where troopers were conducting a traffic stop.

The vehicle entered the breakdown lane and rear-ended one cruiser, which pushed it into the second cruiser.

The juvenile driver of the vehicle is charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor, reckless driving and driving to endanger resulting in physical injury.

One trooper and two juveniles sustained minor injuries and were treated a local hospital.
