Employee arrested after allegedly stealing safe filled with cash from Cumberland business

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — The Cumberland Police Department said a man was arrested after he allegedly stole a safe from a business he was employed by.
40-year-old Basilio Andrade, of Pawtucket, was charged with entry of a building or ship with felonious intent.
On March 5, police were dispatched to Jahn’s Metal Craft on Carl Street after a safe with a “substantial amount of cash” was stolen.
During the investigation, Cumberland police identified Andrade, a current employee of Jahn’s Metal Craft, as the suspect of the theft.
After obtaining an arrest warrant, Andrade was taken into custody without incident Tuesday morning in front of the business, according to police.
The defendant is currently being held while awaiting his arraignment.
Cumberland police said Andrade has been convicted twice in the past for breaking and entering in Rhode Island, as well as for minor criminal arrests.
