Woonsocket police investigate an armed carjacking attempt Wednesday, March 12 (WLNE).

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Police are investigating an armed carjacking attempt Wednesday night.

According to officers, the victim initially pulled over at the corner of Front and Logee Streets around 10 p.m. to adjust a GPS system.

At that point, the victim reports a man with a hood over his face jumped in the car and hit him “five or six” times with a gun.

The victim told police the suspect then attempted to steal the car, but ran off after the victim drove the car into a retaining wall in the struggle.

The victim had non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Woonsocket police are still investigating the incident.
