RIDOT to install ‘structural health monitoring’ system in Washington Bridge as demo continues
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Demolition work continues on the Washington Bridge Monday which will affect local commutes.
RIDOT said drivers should anticipate alternating one-way traffic on Waterfront Drive on Monday and Tuesday while they install sensors for its “structural health monitoring” system.
That work will be between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday.
RIDOT workers will be using high-powered hammers to break up the bottom parts of the westside part of the bridge.
That work will be done during the daytime only.
RIDOT said that the demolition remains on schedule to be completed by the end of the year.
