A piece of Providence history: Track 15 officially opens its doors to the public
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Track 15 just opened its doors Tuesday morning, and it’s already buzzing.
Seven local vendors, a central bar and a spacious plaza are all inside a piece of Providence history.
Once a busy transportation hub, Union Station is now a destination for food lovers.
Track 15 breathes new life into the space, offering a unique dining experience while paying homage to Providence’s past.
Governor Dan McKee said this is about more than food; it’s about investing in the city’s future.
“If we don’t do this work that is behind us. We don’t continue the momentum that we are sharing here in the state of Rhode Island and right down downtown Providence,” said McKee.
With seven local restaurants under one roof, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of flavors, from Mexican and Middle Eastern to seafood, burgers and Italian.
Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos said Track 15 adds to the energy of downtown.
“Come have something to eat, walk around, go and see a play at PPAC and enjoy downtown Providence,” said Lt. Governor Matos.
Mayor Brett Smiley and other officials said the opening of Track 15 highlights Providence’s thriving food scene.
“We know, and we are so deeply proud, and so many of us get to enjoy world-class cuisine and dining on a daily basis here in the city of Providence,” said Mayor Smiley.
“It is part of what puts us on the map nationwide, and in fact, globally.”
After Tuesday morning’s ribbon-cutting, the food hall officially opened to the public.
Track 15 is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
The doors are open, and Providence is showing up.
