Group raises $200,000 for Connecticut man held captive by stepmother for 20 years

WATERBURY, Conn. (WLNE) — The Waterbury woman accused of holding her stepson captive for most of his life, briefly appeared in court Wednesday.

Kimberly Sullivan arrived at Waterbury Superior Court this morning where she was expected to plead not guilty to kidnapping and assault charges.

Our ABC affiliate in Connecticut, WTNH, reported the case was continued until Friday.

Sullivan is accused of holding her now 32-year-old stepson in captivity for over 20 years.

He was found starved, abused and locked in a small room.

An organization called Safe Haven has raised nearly $200,000 for the victim.
