Multiple families displaced after Providence fire

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Fire Department said that four families were displaced after a fire on Sorrento Street Saturday morning.

Firefighters responded to the area around 8 a.m. to discover a fire in the basement of a three-and-a-half story home.

The department said that it assisted a resident who was inside the building looking for a dog.

There were no injuries to occupants, but two firefighters sustained minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
