Attorneys for South County Hospital in court for lawsuit against opposition group
WAKEFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — Attorneys for South County Hospital will be in court Monday morning after they filed a lawsuit against the group Save South County Hospital.
Lawyers for the hospital filed the lawsuit earlier in March, claiming Save South County Hospital has targeted the hospital’s donor group.
The two sides have clashed over a change in management in the hospital, which led to the entire oncology department resigning last June.
In a statement released on their website on March 12th, the hospital said they’re hoping to “safeguard donor confidentiality and ensure that philanthropic contributions continue to support critical hospital services and patient care” with the lawsuit.
Meanwhile, Save Couth County Hospital said in a statement:
This lawsuit is nothing short of a shameless, desperate stunt designed to choke off dissent and cover up the catastrophic fallout of gross mismanagement at South County Hospital. The community sees through the charade and is demanding a total overhaul of leadership from both the CEO and the board
That preliminary injunction hearing is set for 1 p.m. Monday.
