Suspect in high-speed chase, sexual assault incidents faces a judge

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence police arrested a Woonsocket man Thursday who was wanted on multiple charges by multiple jurisdictions, including a sexual assault charge in Attleboro.

Jesse M. Marinaro, 34, was wanted in connection to a high-speed chase originating in Woonsocket on Wednesday, violation of a no contact order (4th offense), domestic disorderly conduct and operating on a suspended license.

Marinaro also had an outstanding warrant from Woonsocket police for a March 9 shoplifting charge and a fugitive from justice charge from Attleboro for an alleged sexual assault.

Marinaro faced a judge on Friday, and pleaded not guilty to several charges, and entered no plea on the charges of eluding police, domestic violence and driving with a suspended license.

The incident that led to Marinaro‘s eventual arrest took place on Wednesday, when Woonsocket officers responded to a Social Street residence for report of an unwanted person and possible No Contact Order violation.

The caller identified the individual as Marinaro, who was reportedly banging on doors in the hallway, according to the Woonsocket Police Department.

Officers arriving to the disturbance saw a motorcycle leave the area of the reported address at a high rate of speed.

Officers pursued the motorcycle, reaching speeds of 50 mph in the residential area on both Elm Street and Cass Avenue.

Rhode Island State Police and Cumberland Police were notified of the pursuit as it approached Cumberland.

The motorcycle reportedly reached speeds of up to 75 mph on Mendon Road, reaching upwards of 90 mph passing Cumberland High School.

One officer stated that the motorcycle was observed weaving in and out of traffic, operating on the wrong side of the road and of a one-way road.

The motorcycle continued toward 295 south where officers said they lost sight of it and terminated their pursuits.

Officers said that they confirmed Marinaro to be the motorcycle operator from security footage obtained from a local mini-mart.

These images showed Marinaro walking around the store in the same clothing and sunglasses as the pursuit suspect.

The motorcycle from the pursuit was also observed parked in the mini-mart lot in the footage.

The business is also located directly below the apartment of the caller who alerted police to Marinaro‘s alleged disturbance.

Marinaro will appear in court again later in April.
