RIDOH said the alert was issued due to “fewer than 5” non-fatal overdoses in the region between March 28 and April 3, and the region had a spike threshold of three.
The department said spike alerts are issued whenever a municipality or region experienced a “higher-than-usual number of non-fatal overdoses” within seven days.
“This overdose activity exceeds historical data for this region and meets the criteria for an overdose spike alert,” RIDOH said.
