Gas company conducting maintenance and inspections at Somerset power plant

SOMERSET, Mass. (WLNE) — The Somerset Fire Department said gas line maintenance and inspections began Tuesday at the old power plant property near the intersection of Brayton Point Road and O’Neil Road.

During the inspections, the department said “natural gas is diverted through a flare system which will be visible as a large flame rising several feet into the air at the test site.”

The Somerset Fire Department said there is no danger to the public and the maintenance is normal and controlled.
