Hollywood coming to Rhode Island for Shyamalan-Jake Gyllenhaal thriller
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Some big names are coming to our small state to film a movie based on the work from a best selling author.
Thriller director M. Night Shyamalan will direct what’s being billed as a “supernatural romantic thriller.”
Jake Gyllenhaal will star in the movie, that will be based on an original narrative from “The Notebook” author Nicholas Sparks, who’s writing along with Shyamalan.
The movie will begin filming this summer, but we don’t know where we can expect to see crews.
However, the Rhode Island film and Television Office and Two Beacons Productions, a corporation managed by Shyamalan’s Blinding Edge Pictures, have asked the state properties committee to use the Cranston armory in Providence for filming.
The meeting on that proposal is scheduled for next Tuesday, April 15.
