New bills would cap RI utility profits and allow public hearings with utilities reps
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — State Senator Victoria Gu has introduced two bills Thursday regarding utility companies.
This is companion legislation to State Rep Megan Cotter’s bills in the house.
The first would put a new cap on the amount of profits a utility company could receive on their rate of return from the state.
The second bill would make the hearings between the state and utility companies open to the pubic, and allow residents a vote in the approval process.
