Celebration of Life for Rep. Carol Doherty scheduled for today

TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) – A Celebration of Life will take place today for the late Massachusetts State Representative Carol Doherty.
Rep. Doherty passed away in February from pancreatic cancer. The Celebration of Life starts at 10AM at the Memorial United Methodist Church on Somerset Avenue in Taunton.
The 82-year-old, longtime Taunton resident, was elected State Representative for the Third Bristol District in 2020 in a special election and was re-elected in both 2022 and 2024.
Prior to her time as State Representative, she served five terms on the Taunton School Committee and worked as a third-grade teacher in New Bedford and later on in Taunton where she later became a guidance counselor. Rep. Doherty’s public service also included terms serving as President of the Taunton Education Association and as President of the Massachusetts Teachers Association.
