South Coast Rail faces numerous Sunday delays
FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The South Coast Rail is back on schedule Monday morning after repeated delays and cancellations on Sunday.
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority canceled multiple lines from South Station to New Bedford, Fall River and Kingston due to a “crew availability issue.”
Passengers were accommodated by shuttle buses in the meantime or told to consider other lines.
One passenger wrote sharing how the cancellations impacted them:
Hundreds of south coast rail passengers are stranded in Boston South Station.
We have just boarded the train to New Bedford. It is confirmed that we will need to get off in East Taunton and board a bus to Fall River. Hopefully, they have plenty of buses and no one gets stranded.
The MBTA’s passenger information center reopens this morning at six for service alerts.
In a statement, an MBTA representative said:
Some trains on the Fall River/New Bedford and Kingston Lines were cancelled yesterday (Sunday) due to crew availability issues. Passengers were accommodated by later trains or shuttle buses.
