Jury selection concluded as 18 jurors seated for Karen Read’s second trial

DEDHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — The jury selection process for Karen Read’s retrial concluded on Tuesday with 18 total jurors chosen by the court.

12 will deliberate and six will serve as alternates.

Initially, the court wanted 16 jurors for the retrial. On April 11, Judge Beverly Cannone decided to add two more jurors to the trial jury.

Opening statements are expected to begin on April 22.
