Norton woman battling cancer given year of free groceries and water

NORTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A cervical cancer patient and mother of two from Norton is fighting the battle of her life.

“Cancer affects you in a lot of ways,” Norton resident Carrie Foster said. “Obviously physically, emotionally, mentally, and also financially.”

On Tuesday, Foster was given one year’s worth of groceries and water, plus $50,000 for her to donate to other patients in need.

“Having this food grant is just so meaningful, it’s one less thing to worry about and it means so much,” Foster added.

Foster thought she was just participating in a promotional video, but to her surprise, she was in for a generous gift.

Joe Andruzzi of the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, a former New England Patriot and cancer survivor himself, said he understands what it’s like to battle a disease.

Andruzzi and his team joined forces with Stop and Shop and Poland Spring to make the donation.

“I have been there 17 years ago,” Andruzzi said. “It’s not easy and it takes a toll on you. I want to be able to give you comfort in your home to eat good food and drink lots of water.”

“Not having to worry about food is huge,” Foster said. “Food is so expensive and everything is getting more expensive.”
