Family displaced after overnight house fire in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A family is without a home after an overnight fire on Fern Street in Providence.

Fire officials received the call around 3:30AM on Monday. The Red Cross is assisting the two adults and three children who lived in the home.

While extinguishing the fire, one firefighter was injured but is expected to be ok.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation; however, fire officials did respond to the same home earlier on Sunday and are looking into whether the initial fire reignited.
