Rhode Island Student Loan Authority to meet after Trump announces payment changes
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Student Loan Authority will meet Wednesday afternoon for the second time this year.
On its agenda is a discussion of recent changes at the federal level when it comes to student loans.
Tuesday, the Trump administration announced it would begin collecting defaulted college loan payments, which would affect five million borrowers starting May 5.
Another four million borrowers remain in late-stage delinquency, and could see their wages garnished.
RISLA will also discuss the state budget and the RI advantage refinancing program, all of this when directors meet at noon in Warwick.
