Paramedic who transported Read to hospital for psych evaluation testifies in retrial

DEDHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — Canton paramedic Daniel Whitley returned to the witness stand for cross-examination in the retrial of Karen Read Thursday.

Defense attorney David Yannetti continued the cross examination, asking Whitley about Read’s behavior at the hospital after O’Keefe’s body was found.

Yannetti asked Whitley about alleged inconsistencies in Whitley’s previous testimonies, specifically about Read’s statements on O’Keefe’s condition.

Whitley is the paramedic who took Read to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation after O’Keefe was found following the incident that led to his death.

The final text messages between Read and O’Keefe were also presented in court.
