Roger Williams University student dies after ‘medical emergency’ abroad
BRISTOL, R.I. (WLNE) — Roger Williams University said that a junior died while in Italy as part of a study abroad program.
The university said Paige Moreau died on April 26 due to a “medical emergency.”
She was a student of the Cummings School of Architecture, was a member of he competitive cheerleading team and dance club, and was to receive a Class Award as part of the Student Life Achievement Awards.

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Paige Moreau, a member of the Class of 2026. Paige was in Florence, Italy, on a study abroad program. She experienced a medical emergency, which tragically resulted in her death on April 26.
University officials have communicated with Paige’s family to share our condolences and offer our support. The Moreau family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Florence program for their exceptional care and compassion from the very first call. The family acknowledged that every person went above and beyond to assist them, and they recognized the extraordinary efforts to save Paige.
She will be remembered for her involvement across our campus, academically in the Cummings School of Architecture, working as an RA, an Orientation Assistant, and as a Building Manager through Student Programs, Leadership, & Orientation. She was a member of many different student organizations, including the competitive cheerleading team and dance club, served in leadership positions, and made a difference through her mentorship of peers. Last year, Paige received the RA of the Year Award. Paige was to receive a Class Award at this year’s Student Life Achievement Awards. We have lost an RWU community member, and we all grieve for her passing and offer support for her friends and family.
The Moreau family is finding strength in the love and support from our community, and they welcome any messages, memories, or kind words you wish to share through Student Life or on social media.
