Former RI Senate President Ruggerio to be laid to rest Monday

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Former Rhode Island Senate President Dominick Ruggerio will be laid to rest Monday morning after his death on April 21.

Ruggerio’s first wake was Sunday at the Masseroni Funeral Home on Smith Street in North Providence.

Ruggerio died last Monday after a battle with cancer at the age 76.

A second wake will be before Monday morning’s funeral from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

A burial mass begins at 11 a.m. at Saint Anthony’s Church on Mineral Spring Avenue in North Providence.

In preparation for the wake and funeral, the North Providence Police Department is warning residents to expect traffic.

Police say there will be traffic control near the Masseroni Funeral Home during the services.

The department says local businesses in the area are offering parking.
