‘Devastating blow’: North Smithfield crews battle fire at Sayles Hill Rod and Gun Club
NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — Fire departments were called to Sayles Hill Rod and Gun Club in North Smithfield around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday for reports of a fire.
Roads were closed near the area, with the closure extended to Prince Road.
There were no injuries in the incident according to officials.
Water tankers from surrounding communities had to be called in by the North Smithfield Fire Department.

In a statement, Sayles Hill Rod and Gun Club Secretary Tim Plante said:
The fire last night was a devastating blow to our organization and our members.We respectfully ask you to allow us work with the appropriate officials to determine what happened, and allow our Board of Directors, Elected Officers and Full Membership Body to discuss our future.At this time we are working fully and cooperatively with the RI State Fire Marshall and the North Smithfield Fire Department.We will not speculate or comment as to what we ‘think’ might have happened. We fully entrust the State and Town Fire officials to let us know what happened.
