Rhode Island house to consider farmed fur-banning bill

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island could soon ban the sale and display of farmed fur with a bill now being discussed by the General Assembly.

The House Judiciary Committee will meet to consider that bill, which would officially prohibit selling, displaying for sale or distributing farmed animal fur products.

The house passed a ban in 2022, but it stalled in the senate.

The committee will also look at amending casino laws in regard to I-gaming, rectifying the statue of limitations for child assault and allowing the DEM to acquire foot paths through eminent domain.

The committee meets at 5 p.m.
