State representatives honor late Senate President Dominick Ruggerio

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The general assembly gathered in the Senate Chamber Wednesday, honoring former Senate President Dominick Ruggerio.

Legislators recognized Senator Ruggierio’s decades of work and the passion he had for serving, while emphasizing the impact he’ll have on the Senate for years to come.

House Speaker Joseph Shekarchi worked closely with him for years.

“He was a very unique man, passionate about his family, his children, his grandchildren, his sister, but equally passionate about all of you,” Shekarchi said. “We’ll continue to move forward for the people of Rhode Island but we’ll continue to move forward for our friend, the Senate President Donnie Ruggerio.”
