Brush fire on Cape Cod now fully contained

SANDWICH, Mass. (WLNE) — A brush fire on Cape Cod has been fully contained after breaking containment yesterday.

Joint Base Cape Cod, where the fire occurred, issued a statement saying that the fire was originally part of planned controlled burns this week as part of their habitat management and forest fire mitigation program.

Reportedly, the day’s wind moved the fire out of the designated burn area, though it did not leave the confines of the base.

Local fire departments were requested to assist with the fire.

The fire was intended to burn a total of 133 acres.

It burned a total of 150 acres, though no structures were damaged.
