Woman injured after RIPTA bus involved in pedestrian crash in Cranston
CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Cranston Police Department said that a woman suffered a “serious leg injury” after a pedestrian crash involving a RIPTA bus at the Walmart on Plainfield Pike.
Police said the woman was picked up at Kennedy Plaza as part of a courtesy ride, and was “believed to have been under the influence of alcohol.”
When she exited the bus, she then tried to “get back to the rear bus door for an unknown reason” as the bus was pulling away, and she was injured.
Officers immediately applied a tourniquet to the leg, and the woman was transported to the hospital.
The department also said that surveillance footage from the bus and the Walmart were being reviewed as part of the investigation, and that the bus driver was cooperative and not charged.
