BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE)– The trial of a Pawtucket man accused of fatally shooting a Boston cab driver is scheduled to begin today at 9 a.m. in Suffolk County Superior Court.

Phillip Foy, 40, is accused of murdering Luckinson Oruma, 60, outside of the Colonnade Hotel on Huntington Avenue in Boston on June 4, 2019.

Oruma had reportedly parked his cab outside of the hotel when Foy entered, asking for a ride to Mansfield.

When Oruma declined, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office claims that Foy exited the cab before moving to the driver’s side door and assaulting Oruma, and at some point, shot him.

After the shooting, Foy reportedly told police that he had shot Oruma, but claimed that it was in self-defense.

The trial will be overseen by Judge Anthony Campo.
