WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation is breaking ground on a project to help better connect Interstate 95 and Route 4.

Dubbed the “Missing Move” project, it will focus on building new ramps to connect I-95 northbound with Rt. 4 southbound and Rt. 4 northbound with I-95 southbound, so that drivers will be able to travel in all directions between the two highways.

The ceremony will take place at the Neon Marketplace on Division Street in Warwick, near where the work will take place, and will be attended by Sen. Jack Reed and Gov. Dan McKee.

Reed, alongside the rest of Rhode Island’s federal delegation, helped secure an $81 million federal grant to partially fund the project.

Additional work will be done in the area of Route 403 near the Quonset Business Park to help with traffic in the area as part of the project.

RIDOT’s website states that they expect the project to be completed by spring of 2028, and they project it to cost $144 million in total.
