Connecticut State Police arrest man accused in Providence kidnapping

MADISON, Conn. (WLNE) — Connecticut State Police said that a fugitive from justice arrested in Providence after an alleged gunpoint kidnapping in Providence.
23-year-old Angel Martinez, of Providence, was charged in Connecticut with carrying a pistol without a permit and illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle.
Troopers responded to a Madison rest area on Interstate 95 following the BOLO from Providence police at approximately 1:57 a.m. Thursday.
Martinez was then taken into custody, and police said the passenger in his vehicle was “positively identified as the victim in the Providence incident.”
State police also alleged that a 9mm handgun was found in a bag behind the front passenger seat.
Martinez was held on a $5,000 bond, and Providence police secured an extradition arrest warrant for him, with which he was held on a $250,000 bond.
