RIDOT schedules lane shift on Route 113 for Friday

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation will be shifting all of the travel lanes on Route 113 over I-95 and I-295 in Warwick to the eastbound side of the road on Friday.

The shift is being done to facilitate work being done on the bridges carrying the route over I-95 and I-295, both of which RIDOT considers in poor condition.

Over the summer, the westbound side of both bridges will be demolished and replaced; once that is finished, the eastbound sides will be demolished and replaced as well.

The lane shift beginning on Friday is expected to last throughout the summer.

No ramps will be closed, according to RIDOT, as part of the work, though the already-closed ramp from Route 113 East to Route 95 North will remain closed for the rest of the year.

According to RIDOT, the work is being done as part of the Warwick Corridor Project, which also includes upgrades along Bald Hill Road, West Shore Road and Post Road.

All travel lanes are planned to be restored to their original configuration on new bridges by the end of the year.
