1 airlifted, 1 driven to hospital after crash in Voluntown

VOLUNTOWN, Conn. (WLNE) — Connecticut State Police said two people were taken to the hospital with “serious injuries” after a multi-vehicle collision on Tuesday.
According to CSP, a Land Rover Discovery was traveling westbound on Route 165 when it crossed into the eastbound travel lane, colliding with a Chevrolet Silverado K1500.
The operator of the Chevrolet Silverado, a 33-year-old man, was flown via LifeStar to Rhode Island Hospital with “serious injuries.”
The operator of the Land Rover, a 22-year-old man, was taken to William W. Backus Hospital by the Voluntown Fire Department with “serious injuries.”
The Jewett City Fire Department provided assistance.
During the time of the crash, Route 165 was closed. It has since reopened, according to the Town of Voluntown.
Connecticut State Police is investigating the crash.
