East Greenwich approves $150 million school construction bond
EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) — The East Greenwich Town Council has approved a $150 million bond to fund several school construction projects.
Those would include replacing Frenchtown Elementary and possibly Hannaford Elementary as well as renovations to Meadowbrook Elementary and East Greenwich High School.
During Monday night’s meeting, councilors said the bond may not be enough to cover all the upgrades local schools may need, especially after losing “Pay go” funding from the state.
Construction could start next year.
