Bristol Raids 250th anniversary celebrations kick off
BRISTOL, R.I. (WLNE) — Bristol, famous for its 4th of July celebrations, is starting some celebrations Thursday.
The city will be celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Bristol raids, which was the city’s earliest involvement in the American revolution.
Dockside receptions, musical performances and nautical learning sessions begin Thursday.
Historical re-enactments of the bombardment of Bristol will happen over the weekend.
Also available will be public tours of the Oliver Hazard Perry, a 19th century style ship named after the famous navy officer from the Ocean State.
