Karen Read retrial: Prosecution and defense spar over accusations of late expert reports
DEDHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — The Karen Read retrial faces a potential delay as both sides have accused each other of introducing late expert reports.
Read’s defense attorney Robert Alessi has suggested that the trial might need to be paused.
The accusations began after jurors were dismissed for the day and the judge did not immediately rule on the issues.
Earlier Thursday, the medical examiner who performed John O’Keefe’s autopsy took the stand.
She testified as to what she thinks was the primary cause of O’Keefe’s death.
Testifying for the prosecution, she said there was no depth to the abrasions on O’Keefe’s arm, which the defense claims could’ve been caused by dog bites.
She said they were instead superficial wounds.
The trial reconvenes later today.
