Wyatt inmate pleads guilty to conspiring with attorney to deliver narcotic soaked papers

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A federal detainee at the Wyatt Detention Center in Central Falls has pleaded guilty in a conspiracy to smuggle synthetic marijuana into the facility.

Shawn D. Hart, 46, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and obtaining or attempting to obtain prohibited objects as an inmate.

While incarcerated at Wyatt, Hart conspired with attorney Theresa Marie DiJoseph, 51, to deliver him papers soaked in the synthetic marijuana K2 on December 1, 2023. 

The papers were seized from DiJoseph as she entered the facility and were confirmed to be soaked in K2 by an FBI testing lab.

Hart will be sentenced in this case on November 18, according to the office of Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.

DiJoseph pleaded guilty on March 12 to one count each of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance analogue, conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and providing a prohibited object to an inmate.

She will be sentenced on June 12.
