Memorial game held in honor of Somerset-Berkley player who died of cancer
SOMERSET, Mass. (WLNE) — A memorial soccer game was held at Somerset-Berkley High School Saturday to raise money for a scholarship in the name of Zachary Deane, a player at the school who died of cancer in 2024.
Soccer players of all ages were invited to join, and there were raffles held for a variety of prizes.
Zach was 17-years-old and set to enter his senior year at Somerset-Berkley when he died in August.
His mother Ashley Deane said she organized the event to honor her son’s legacy.
Several of Zach’s former teammates played in the match and could be eligible for his scholarship.
Anyone who wishes to donate can do so here.
