Jury selection to begin in Silver Spring Walmart shooting case

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Jury selection at Providence Superior Court is expected to begin today in the case of a shooting at the Walmart on Silver Spring Street in Providence.

Shawn Slaughter, 57, originally of Alabama, is accused of killing 51-year-old Eric Campbell, also of Alabama, after the two got into an argument while they were completing maintenance work in July of 2024.

Campbell died from his wounds at the scene.

Slaughter faces a murder charge, as well as a charge of possession of a firearm without a license and one other charge.
