Woonsocket man dies after falling off ladder in Foster

FOSTER, R.I. (WLNE) — An 82-year-old man died after falling off a ladder while doing construction work in Foster.

Foster police said the incident happened on May 15 on Round Hill Road.

According to police, 82-year-old Howard Gurney was helping a friend build a new home when he fell off a ladder.

The friend told police Gurney climbed a ladder to point something out on the ceiling, and slipped and fell while he was coming down the ladder.

The friend called 911, and Gurney was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he died.
