Firefighters battle 2 structure fires in Scituate

SCITUATE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Chopmist Hill Volunteer Fire Department said firefighters battled two structure fires in Scituate on May 19.

Around 1:45 a.m., crews responded to reports of a garage fire on Gleaner Chapel Road.

First-arriving crews reported a fully-involved two-car garage fire, as well as a vehicle on fire in the driveway. Crews added the garage had collapsed.

According to the Chopmist Hill Volunteer Fire Department, firefighters were able to prevent the flames from extending to the home.

Firefighters were on scene for 1.5 hours.

At 3:15 p.m., crews responded to reports of a barn fire on Elmdale Road.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a chicken coop engulfed in flames in the rear yard.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire and were on scene for one hour.
