Firefighters battle roof fire at Poyant Signs in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — Firefighters battled a fire at a commercial building on Samuel Barnett Boulevard Tuesday afternoon.
Just after 12:30 p.m., crews responded to Poyant Signs for reports of a fire on the northeast corner of the roof.
At the scene, crews confirmed a fire on the roof and used a hoseline to protect the rubber roof and solar panels.
The New Bedford Fire Department said the interior of the structure sustained minor water damage, but the business will remain open.
Eversource Electric assisted with the response.
Nobody was injured.
The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation.
