FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Fall River police said officers arrested a man living in the country illegally in connection to drug trafficking.

44-year-old Ramon Pimentel Mejia was charged with trafficking over 18 grams of cocaine.

On the night of May 20, officers executed a search warrant in the 500 block of South Main Street.

Outside a residence on South Main Street, police approached Pimentel Mejia and allegedly discovered he was in possession of over 29 grams of suspected crack cocaine, which were individually packaged for distribution, according to Fall River police.

During the execution of the search warrant, officers seized $4,483 and a “substantial quantity of an unknown powdery substance,” which will be tested.

Pimentel Mejia was arrested and charged.

The defendant was initially known to police under a different alias, but was identified as Pimentel Mejia and discovered to have been previously deported by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The defendant was held without bail due to “uncertainties regarding his true identity and immigration status,” according to Fall River police.
